14-Year-Old Vinya Chhabra Turns Three Chairs With Show-Stopping “Ironic” Cover on The Voice
As The Voice Season 28 Blind Auditions near their end, the pressure is higher than ever — but 14-year-old Vinya Chhabra proved she could handle it like a seasoned pro. On Monday night’s episode (October 6), the young artist delivered a confident, powerhouse rendition of Alanis Morissette’s 1996 hit “Ironic,” earning a three-chair turn and praise from all corners of the stage.
A Calm and Confident Performance
Despite her age, Chhabra carried herself with remarkable poise as she tackled the ‘90s rock classic. Her control and tone immediately caught the attention of the coaches, who quickly sensed that her talent extended far beyond her years.
That composure likely comes from her extensive musical background. In addition to her vocal talent, Vinya is a classical concert pianist who has performed at Carnegie Hall and is active in musical theater — experiences that helped her stay calm under the bright lights of national television.
Coaches React: “You Pack a Powerful Punch”
Reba McEntire was the first coach to turn her chair, visibly impressed by the young performer’s voice. She was soon followed by Michael Bublé and Snoop Dogg, who turned just before the performance ended.
“You pack a powerful punch at your age,” Snoop told her. “You’re not nervous. You’re not afraid. That’s superstar quality.”
Reba echoed the sentiment, calling Vinya a “powerhouse” and praising her natural tone and determination. “Vinya really had great range, great tone, and the young contestants on this show are like sponges,” she said. “They really wanna learn. They really wanna grow.”
Team Reba Gains a Rising Star
When it came time to choose her coach, Vinya’s parents joined her on stage to share the special moment. After some thought, she decided to join Team Reba, a move that left the country icon smiling ear to ear.
The Voice’s Legacy of Teen Talent
Vinya joins a long line of teenage contestants who have found success on The Voice. Past winners include Brynn Cartelli (Season 14) and Carter Rubin (Season 19), both of whom were just 15 when they claimed the title, as well as Danielle Bradbery (Season 4), Sawyer Fredericks (Season 8), and Chevel Shepherd (Season 15), who each won at 16.
With her unique mix of confidence, stage presence, and vocal power, Vinya Chhabra might just be the next young artist to follow in their footsteps.
