Dolly Parton’s Sister Freida Clarifies Health Scare — “I Didn’t Mean to Frighten Anyone, She’ll Be Just Fine!”

Dolly Parton’s Sister Freida Clarifies Health Concerns After Prayer Request Sparks Worry

After sparking concern among fans with a heartfelt post asking for prayers, Freida Parton, the younger sister of Dolly Parton, is now setting the record straight.

“I want to clear something up,” Freida, 68, wrote on social media on Tuesday, October 7. “I didn’t mean to scare anyone or make it sound so serious when asking for prayers for Dolly.”

Freida explained that her intention was simply to ask for spiritual support — not to signal a serious health crisis.

“Dolly’s been a little under the weather, and I simply asked for prayers because I believe so strongly in the power of prayer,” she continued. “It was nothing more than a little sister asking for prayers for her big sister.”

Freida also took a moment to thank fans for their outpouring of love and support, adding that their kindness “truly makes a difference.”

What Sparked the Concern

Earlier that same day, Freida had posted a message saying she had been “up all night praying” for her sister.

“Many of you know she hasn’t been feeling her best lately,” Freida wrote. “I truly believe in the power of prayer, and I have been led to ask all of the world that loves her to be prayer warriors and pray with me. She’s strong, she’s loved, and with all the prayers being lifted for her, I know in my heart she’s going to be just fine. Godspeed, my sissy Dolly. We all love you!”

The post quickly spread across social media, leaving fans worried that Dolly’s condition might be more serious than previously known.

Dolly Parton Postpones Las Vegas Residency

The concern followed Dolly Parton’s announcement last week that she would be postponing her Las Vegas residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace due to medical reasons.

“As many of you know, I’ve been dealing with some health challenges, and my doctors tell me that I must have a few procedures,” Parton, 79, wrote on Instagram. “As I joked with them, it must be time for my 100,000-mile checkup — although it’s not the usual trip to see my plastic surgeon!”

She emphasized that the decision was made so she could properly recover and deliver the best performance possible for her fans:

“In all seriousness, I am not going to be able to rehearse and put together the show that I want you to see, and the show that you deserve to see. You pay good money to see me perform, and I want to be at my best for you.”

Parton reassured fans she has no plans to retire, saying,

“Don’t worry about me quittin’ the business because God hasn’t said anything about stopping yet. But I believe He is telling me to slow down right now so I can be ready for more big adventures with all of you.”

Looking Ahead

The postponed shows — originally scheduled for December — will be rescheduled for late 2026, according to her team.

While Dolly recovers, her fans continue to send messages of love, and her sister Freida says that’s exactly what Dolly needs most.

“She’s strong, she’s loved, and she’s going to be just fine,” Freida reaffirmed.

It seems that for now, the Queen of Country is simply taking a well-earned moment to rest before returning — as she always does — stronger than ever.
