Donald Trump Nominated For Nobel Peace Prize Amid Iran-Israel Ceasefire Efforts

Representative Buddy Carter nominated Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize, praising his role in ending the recent 12-Day War between Israel and Iran. Trump declared a ceasefire after Israel launched strikes on Iranian nuclear sites, aiming to stop the conflict. However, the truce quickly broke down as missiles were fired again by both sides, raising questions about awarding a peace prize for a short-lived agreement.

Carter highlighted Trump’s efforts to keep nuclear weapons away from Iran and called the ceasefire a historic achievement. But critics note the ceasefire was fragile and may not last. Israeli and Iranian officials soon accused each other of breaking the agreement.

Trump himself expressed frustration at the ongoing conflict despite his peace deal. This isn’t the first time Trump’s peace efforts faced challenges. Pakistan once praised his role in easing tensions with India, but later condemned his strikes on Iran. Similarly, a Ukrainian lawmaker withdrew his earlier nomination of Trump for helping negotiate peace with Russia.

Trump has long desired the Nobel Peace Prize, especially after former President Obama won it early in his term. While some Republicans strongly support Trump’s nomination, the Nobel Committee usually awards those who achieve lasting peace, not temporary truces.

The committee has until January to decide the 2025 winner, so it remains uncertain if Trump’s ceasefire will be seen as a real breakthrough or a brief pause in conflict. Nonetheless, Trump’s nomination has sparked significant discussion about peace and diplomacy today.
