His death was confirmed by Tina’s niece, Jacqueline Bullock, who said he died from kidney failure. She also shared that Ike Jr. had been dealing with severe heart problems for several years and had suffered a stroke in early September.

“It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of my cousin, Ike Turner, Jr.,” Jacqueline said. “Junior was more than a cousin to me, but rather a brother, as we grew up in the same famed household together,” adding that the family is grateful for the outpouring of support and is requesting privacy at this time.

A Childhood Surrounded by Fame And Turmoil

Ike Jr., born in 1958 to Ike Sr. and Lorraine Taylor, was adopted by Tina when he was young and spent his early years surrounded by the energy of his parents’ thriving music careers. Following Tina’s separation from Ike Sr., he collaborated with her briefly as a sound engineer before branching out on his own.

Before his death, Ike Jr. often spoke about his family. In a past interview with The Mail on Sunday, Ike Jr. described his complicated relationship with his famous parents. “Tina raised me from the age of two. She’s the only mother I’ve ever known,” he said, adding:

“But I haven’t talked to my mother since God knows when – probably around 2000. I don’t think any of my brothers have talked to her in a long time either.”

The interview also painted a sobering picture of the famous family’s fractured relationships. During the interview, he also spoke about his siblings’ lives — including Ronald “Ronnie” Turner, as well as his other brothers, Craig Turner and Michael Turner.

“I talk to Ronnie periodically – he’s in great health and married to singer Afida Turner. Craig is in real estate. They both live in LA. Michael is in a convalescent home in Southern California and needs medical support. I’ve been to see him quite a few times. He’s doing great,” he said.
