On Wednesday’s episode of Red Table TalkJada Pinkett Smith invites viewers to join her for a personal and educational journey as she undergoes her first colonoscopy. The episode highlights the importance of gut health, featuring candid discussions with her mother Adrienne Banfield-Norris, son Jaden Smith, and several medical experts.

In a clip shared with PEOPLE, the 50-year-old actress is seen post-procedure, still under anesthesia but feeling upbeat. “I feel so relaxed,” she says with a laugh. “Sticking cameras in your booty… that’s a little cumbersome, you know.”

She admits to feeling initial panic but encourages viewers not to fear the process. “I just want people to know that it was a very easeful process,” she explains. “I feel good. I feel extra good because I’m on the other side.”

The episode uses Jada’s experience as a launch point for a broader discussion about preventative care and digestive health, particularly within the Black community, where colon cancer is often diagnosed at more advanced stages.

Her mother and son join in the conversation, adding personal insights and reactions. The tone is a mix of humor, vulnerability, and information, typical of the show’s style.

This isn’t the first time the Smith family has brought colon health to public attention. In 2019, Will Smith filmed his own colonoscopy, during which doctors found and removed a precancerous polyp. The 17-minute video has since been viewed nearly four million times on YouTube.

By sharing her experience so openly, Jada hopes to destigmatize the procedure and encourage viewers to prioritize their health.

“Early detection saves lives,” she says. “If I can do it, so can you.”
